Bareboat

For bareboat charter in Greece, a valid sailing license is required: IPC (International Proficiency Certificate) issued by ASA, US Sailing, NauticEd, RYA, IYT, or another certified school. “I was the victim of a scam”

I had a very bad experience with this boat rental company—it was practically a scam. I’m writing this message so that others don’t get caught in the same trap. The boats look quite nice. The welcome on Saturday is pleasant. Check-in is very brief, with little assistance. AND starting the next day, no one is available for four days. If there’s a problem, the only contact is via WhatsApp. When a minor damage occurred for which the company was responsible—and before we’d even left the dock—Hermès Yachting’s response was to confiscate the ship’s papers, deem us incompetent, and prevent us from setting sail. I asked for a test of my skills; they refused. The only options were to hire a skipper—which they didn’t have—or spend our 15-day vacation on the boat in the harbor. No negotiation, just threats, and the complicity of the port authorities who refused to take our complaint. We didn’t stay; of course, the checkout process went as far as counting the cutlery and scrutinizing every detail, and the security deposit was withheld. A lawless period. Potential customers really need to be warned. This company is unworthy of operating in this industry. Looking back at the reviews, I saw that I wasn’t the only customer who’d been scammed. I’ve been sailing for years, I have my own racing boat, and I’ve rented many times—we need to clean up this kind of practice.

“Great variety of yachts and friendly staff”

Great variety of yachts and friendly staff. We sailed on a HANSE 458 in September from Lavrio. The boat was in mint condition. Also the marina is very modern and with great facilities.

I chartered Bavaria Cruiser 46 "Oceanos" in Sept 2021. The bow thruster did not work, the mainsail (torn in half) was repaired in such amateur way, that we could hardy sail on it, 4 out of 9 door locks did not work (we had to use silver tape to keep doors closed), stern bathing platform could not be lowered (so we could not have any swimming), radio broke down (so we could not ask for the assistance entering Lavrio in the wind of 7 B). What's more, emergency phone did not answer. Sorry to say, but if you want to waste your holidays - use Hermes Yachting !
