Sailing tips for boat rentals in Montenegro

You can easily get to Montenegro from most of European countries.  There are two international airports, one in Podgorica and the other in  Tivat located close to the Kotor Bay. Dubrovnik airport in Croatia is  also only 40 minutes away by taxi from Montenegro.
Sailing yachts in  Montenegro can be found along 300-kilometer coastline, and even in  small berths on 14 islands. Bay of Kotor is located on the northwest of  the country and known as the best sailing and yachting spot in  Montenegro. In summer, the water temperature rises up to 26 C, while air  is 30 C. Early Autumn - also a wonderful time for yacht charter in  Montenegro.
Wind and navigation conditions in Montenegro may vary.  Spring and autumn considered to be the best time for sailing races,  winds are stable and it is not very hot. During this time mostly two  winds prevail, either north - bora or southern - sirocco, but in the  afternoon the wind usually dies down. Summer sailing in Montenegro is  relaxed and enjoyable with very light breeze. Thus this country can  offer great sailing conditions for novice or more experienced skippers.  12 Knots will help you to find the best time, itinerary and yacht  rentals in this wonderful area.

Porto Montenegro is one of the most modern and luxury marinas in  Montenegro. Opened in 2009 it is now grew up to a complex with it’s own  hotels, apartments, restaurants, schools, museums, sports center and  yacht club. Here you can rent a yacht or catamaran and make an  unforgettable sailing trip in Montenegro. Porto Montenegro is located in  the vicinity of three international airports: Tivat (7 km), Dubrovnik  (46 km), Podgorica (90 km).

Renting a yacht in Porto Montenegro, take a chance to explore the  entrance to the Bay of Kotor, that consists of several bays, connected  to each other by narrow channels. It is one of the best natural harbors  in Europe with uneven rocky shoreline looking like a fjord, but in fact  is just an enormous river canyon. In the narrow straits there is a  strong current that can reach speed of 2 nm. It often forms after heavy  rains, moving towards the sea.

While on sailing vacation in Kotor Bay do not pass by ancient antique  cities: Kotor, Perast, Herceg Novi. There are ancient Orthodox and  Catholic churches, some of which are places of pilgrimage.
Do not  miss Church of Our Lady, located on the rock near Perast town. If you go  there on a yacht on July 22 you can participate in local festival and  Fashion Cup regatta.

Kotor is the city of sailors, protected by UNESCO. Another well-known  site protected by UNESCO is the Tara River Canyon, with picturesque  waterfalls, beautiful flowers and beaches.

Budva is a great place to visit while sailing in Montenegro. It is  famous for its beaches and incessant nightlife. All night under the  stars, you can have fun in numerous local bars and restaurants in old  town of Tivat and Kotor.
Take a chance and sail to the beach of Ulcinj - it is one of the longest sand beaches in Montenegro also shallow and uncrowned.

Bar is another biggest location for yacht charters in Montenegro.  This town is also a mix of many cultures and located just a few miles  from the Skadar Lake, famous for its birds.

Yacht rentals in Montenegro gives you an opportunity to diversify you  sailing vacation in many ways: kiting, wakeboarding, scuba diving,  hiking, mountain biking, off-road motorcycling, rafting – try any and  you will enjoy your trip!
