Customer reviews

How customer reviews and ratings work

We use the Average with Prior (also known as Bayesian Average) to calculate the total rating for each fleet operator/charter company.

Since new companies could have very few reviews, each review can significantly impact the average score, potentially leading to misleading representations of the total score (e.g., one very positive or very negative review skewing the overall rating). To mitigate this, we use a "prior" or "default" score.

This means that each company rating, by default, starts 4, which is calculated from 3 hypothetical reviews, each rated 4. This assumption provides a baseline level of performance that is neutral-to-positive.

For example, if a new company receives a 5-star review, the total rating will be adjusted to 4.25. Here's how it is calculated: (4 × 3) + 5 = 17 and then divided by the total number of reviews 4 (3 default + 1 actual review), resulting in 4.25

As more reviews come in, the weight of the actual reviews increases, and the influence of the prior diminishes.

31 May 2025 - 14 Jun 2025
Amigo / Dufour 460 GL
“Poorly serviced yacht! Dufour 460Gl Amigo from Fyly”
Amigo - Dufour 460 GL Defects list Charter from May 31 - June 14, 2025 On takeover: ◦ Grill and outdoor washbasin heavily soiled was inadequately cleaned after 2 urges ◦ WC starboard bow, port stern dirty, or gray water tank overflowing -> answer from Fyly: we should simply drive out to empty the gray water tanks... ◦ Sea water pump defective - switch already taped off! According to reviews on the Internet already since 2023! ◦ Greek flag torn out - only hangs at 1 point, urging useless - we repair it ourselves ◦ 1 gas bottle empty, will be replaced after increased urgency. Anchor chain - meters not marked - we mark them ourselves! Top light defective, already known to the charter company when we took over the boat, as we were advised to use the deck light if it did not work. The switch for it didn't work either, so we had to use the navigation lights when anchoring Some defects were only discovered during the trip: ◦ Stern railing unstable, center support defective Stb bow cabin socket defective ◦ Outdoor shower - hot/cold water is connected incorrectly - risk of scalding, very hot water comes first, followed by cold water. Bathing ladder disappears under the boat when boarding. Only possible to climb out with great effort. ◦ At times, the lights in the aft cabins and aft WC do not work ◦ Service battery only lasts approx. 4 hours, after which the engine has to be restarted. Even with the cooler switched off. - Only the box in the cockpit cooled properly. The cooling shutters only worked with 220 power connection. Insufficient cooling even with the engine. The PV panel was also too weak. Safety-relevant defect: ◦ Tuesday, June 3: Anchor windlass defective, we can't anchor in Kimolos and have to continue to Milos/Adamas Port, we inform the charter base. Mechanic arrives, determines the damage, electrician arrives, needs a new motor, which is only delivered the next morning, Thursday, June 5, a motor with signs of wear is installed! It works for the next few days. ◦ Monday, June 9 - When leaving Sikinos, the anchor stalls again and again when we pull it up, so for safety reasons we decide not to go to IOS and the small Cyclades, but back to Parikia/Paros to the base and ask Giorgios for a place in the harbor. He only makes reservations from Tuesday, and ignores my request to make a reservation on Monday. When we arrive, there is no space in the harbor basin. The harbor master had not received any information about this. So we try to moor 5-6 times on the outside with the anchor windlass not working. On the last attempt we only manage 25m of chain instead of 40-50m. The chain stalled again and again, and by knocking against the engine we were able to continue meter by meter. No safe place with a forecast of 6bft. Giorgios is not available. He gets in touch late and explains that he won't be there on the holiday (Whit Monday). A mechanic comes, installs a new relay and moves the boat to the end of the pier in the harbor basin, no mooring. The winch stalls again when we drop anchor! The anchor winch probably didn't always work on previous trips either, as the winch motor cover had already been removed when the ship was taken over. Sensor switches on the main panel are all operable. Switching off and on only possible sometimes or not at all. - Instrument switch cannot be operated at all, always on - Mechanic tries it himself, switches on deck light, but cannot be switched off, it stays on all night. Tuesday, June 10 - a competent mechanic comes on board. He finds damage to the electronics on the main panel. Some digital switches on the main panel are already visibly deactivated via the manual switches on the underside of the control panel, obviously the charter base was aware of the electronic problems before taking over. Since an immediate repair is not possible and the ship does not have the safety-relevant requirements for continuing the trip, we agree with the charter base after long negotiations on a check-out for the same day, Tuesday, June 10th. On the check-out report from the base, the defective anchor and electronic system is noted as the reason. An attempt is made to blame us for scratches on the underwater hull, but we are able to fend this off with the cruise track. No anchoring maneuvers at depths shallower than 5-6m. We leave the ship at our own request, as it is not possible to move the ship to a quieter berth. Sleeping peacefully at the end of the jetty is out of the question with a lot of wind and waves crashing against the stern from below. As there were no toilets available in the marina, the gray water tanks would have been full after a short time. The only positive thing was the barbecue at the stern and the good sails!
