Customer reviews

How customer reviews and ratings work

We use the Average with Prior (also known as Bayesian Average) to calculate the total rating for each fleet operator/charter company.

Since new companies could have very few reviews, each review can significantly impact the average score, potentially leading to misleading representations of the total score (e.g., one very positive or very negative review skewing the overall rating). To mitigate this, we use a "prior" or "default" score.

This means that each company rating, by default, starts 4, which is calculated from 3 hypothetical reviews, each rated 4. This assumption provides a baseline level of performance that is neutral-to-positive.

For example, if a new company receives a 5-star review, the total rating will be adjusted to 4.25. Here's how it is calculated: (4 × 3) + 5 = 17 and then divided by the total number of reviews 4 (3 default + 1 actual review), resulting in 4.25

As more reviews come in, the weight of the actual reviews increases, and the influence of the prior diminishes.

Fantastic boat and excellent tech support. Generator breaker tripped on day 2 and 2 technicians came to The Baths in 1 hour and had us back in business in no time. The ladies at Navigare were really nice and very helpful.

“Review”
Great trip and vessel. A little challenging to work through the documents regarding what is included in the trip. A comprehensive list of what is onboard would be helpful when planning for a large group. I found more information about the vessel through other companies who represented the boat. However, 12 knots returned my inquiries when asked. Boat had minimal issues and a great platform for our trip.

“The charter was lovely!”
The charter was lovely unfortunately not too much wind and a bit cool..... The Lagoon 450F Crystal was unavailable (I think due to engine trouble) so they gave us a Lagoon 46 called Sir Jax, base manager was friendly and polite and we managed to get away quickly and efficiently, we had a couple of issues with the boat but overall it was great and we made it work for everyone. Will have a look at 12 Knots website to see what other locations you operate from.

“Amazing Abaco sailing with Navigare!”
Always love sailing with Navigare! Base crew is fantastic and got us off quickly on day 1! They even remembered us from our last visit! Since our last visit in 2022 (right after Covid) so much more has been built up and the marina is fantastic! We sailed on the Gabrielle Marie and for just the two of us it was the perfect boat.

“Boat not ready but otherwise good charter”
Found out we were the first to charter the boat. It was not ready. No navigation maps loaded, generator didn't start, bilge pump wasn't working... The SUP and kayak we pre-ordered were not on the boat and I had to ask for them. The SUP was not inflated properly so it didn't work very well for our entire charter as they only provided the dinghy pump with it which only goes to 7 psi not the required 15.

Penultimo / Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62
“Disappointing and unprofessional – not recommended”
Despite having paid for an early check-in (€200), the handover started late. A refund was promised but has still not been issued. During the handover, the mainsail was missing and only delivered around 6:00 p.m. Several issues were already visible at delivery, and more appeared during the week. Multiple systems were not working or only partially functional: AIS, stern thruster, engine displays, engine controls, bilge pump, winches, and the furling system of the genoa. In addition, hatches and spinlocks were leaking, cushions could not be secured, and the inventory list, bedding, and kitchen equipment were incomplete. The life raft was stored in a compartment filled with water. Most serious was a complete engine failure caused by a defective fuel pump. Navigare was unable to provide clear information about which pump was connected to which tank, and we had to solve the problem ourselves. Overall, the yacht was in very poor technical condition, the organization was unreliable, and customer service was unsatisfactory. A disappointing experience – not recommended.

Miserable condition of the ship - Lagoon 45, outboard motor scrap. Port battery dead. Standstill for 3 days, base hardly reachable, excuses instead of help. Management rude incompetent and only out for money.

Oufti IV, Bali Catspace 40ft
“Oufti IV 14.02-21.02”
Oufti IV catamaran. The fourth one, apparently, because the previous three had sunk. First of all, the catamaran was not ready until the day after we checked in. We lost a day of vacation. The topinant was being replaced on the mainsail, and the fins and masks were delivered to us only just before departure, on 15.02 at noon, after my third reminder. Secondly, I and my guests made a whole list of the woes of this boat. Left forward cabin - leaking hatch to the bed. There was a constant persistent odor coming from the toilet. Left aft cabin - aft bed hatch leaks. USB outlets not working. Handle fell out of door, cabin door would not close. Water fill in toilet bowl does not work periodically. Right forward cabin - leaks from hatch to bed. Two of my guests were forced to sleep in the galley as streams of water flowed through the closed porthole in the rain. Odor from the restroom. Unlike the other restrooms, this one had a septic tank smell. Starboard aft cabin - odor from the toilet. Air conditioning not working (HP error). On-board hatch to bed leaks. USB outlets not working. Low battery voltage, does not hold a charge well. Be prepared to race generator. Galley - half of the latches on the kitchen drawers do not work. Water and fuel gauges periodically show false readings. The port side dehydration pump one evening would not shut off until all power on board was shut off. The problem occurred once, but the pump ran for half an hour without stopping, even though there was nothing to dry. On the last day the starboard engine stalled, charging error. Then would not start, on starting the revs immediately dropped to 0. Spent a lot of time before we managed to start the engine. The right rudder feather is battered. On the front, a huge piece of the feather is just dangling. Of course this affects the steering. The cushions in the saloon and on deck are very old, some of the securing straps are missing. About all this I immediately notified the technicians via watsapp. Sometimes they answered quickly, and sometimes I had to wait 10-12 hours. I do not think that these defects will be eliminated, so at the reception you can go by this list to get out of the deposit withholding. At eviction and listing all the shortcomings we were not offered compensation for the spoiled vacation. Never take this catamaran, if the purpose of your vacation is to relax, and not to study engineering systems and ways to fix them. It's a pity that you can't insert a video of breakdowns here.
