Customer reviews

How customer reviews and ratings work

We use the Average with Prior (also known as Bayesian Average) to calculate the total rating for each fleet operator/charter company.

Since new companies could have very few reviews, each review can significantly impact the average score, potentially leading to misleading representations of the total score (e.g., one very positive or very negative review skewing the overall rating). To mitigate this, we use a "prior" or "default" score.

This means that each company rating, by default, starts 4, which is calculated from 3 hypothetical reviews, each rated 4. This assumption provides a baseline level of performance that is neutral-to-positive.

For example, if a new company receives a 5-star review, the total rating will be adjusted to 4.25. Here's how it is calculated: (4 × 3) + 5 = 17 and then divided by the total number of reviews 4 (3 default + 1 actual review), resulting in 4.25

As more reviews come in, the weight of the actual reviews increases, and the influence of the prior diminishes.

Your claim that they were blocked with feces from the beginning is absurd. It is impossible to believe that you could be traveling with blocked toilets for 15 days and not mention it immediately. 2. fridge: we tried to show you how to drain the water from the fridge, but you refused to listen to our instructions and said that "you know better based on your experience". Even the most experienced captains know that each boat has its own peculiarities and that it is important to follow the instructions of the charter company. 3. outboard engine: you claimed that the outboard engine "runs for 10 minutes and then starts smoking", but this was the result of improper use as the impeller was damaged by sand from shallow waters. A captain with 25 years of experience should have avoided this. Furthermore, when we provided you with the diagram table and the necessary details for the impeller change, you did not even bother to change it. Even now it seems that you still did not understand the damage caused. 4. buzzer in the salon: The constant beeping that disturbed you in the salon had nothing to do with the batteries, as we explained. The reason was that the VHF charger had been left connected. When we tried to help you, your response was again, "You know better," even though the problem could have been easily fixed by simply unplugging the charger. 5. windows: the two broken aluminum framed windows were damaged because you left them open and then placed the dinghy on them while stepping on the open windows at the same time. When we asked you why you did that, you replied, "You didn't tell us not to step on them." It goes without saying that you should never step on windows, especially open ones. 6. behavior: Your behavior and that of your crew towards our staff was extremely rude and indefensible. You did not allow the staff to do their job and inspect the boat properly, and you reduced them to tears with your pressure and mistreatment. It is unacceptable to take advantage of the age and weakness of our staff to belittle and ridicule them. You should be ashamed of such behavior. The problems you faced were not related to the condition of the boat, but rather to your refusal to cooperate and follow instructions. Most of our customers, regardless of their experience, follow our guidelines and enjoy a smooth charter without any problems. Despite the difficult cooperation, we remain professional and are always available for further clarification. However, we would like to clarify some important points regarding the charter of the boat. During your trip, several damages occurred to the boat that were not present at the time of delivery. The repairs carried out were necessary to rectify the damage and were carried out in accordance with the terms of your contract. The boat was delivered in good condition and we are sorry that it did not meet your expectations. Our company places great emphasis on safety and quality of service and we always strive to provide the best possible experience for our customers. Should you require any further clarification or information, please do not hesitate to contact us for further discussion. Rip off, poor service, unfriendly staff, manipulation of reviews, broken boats with dangerously poor maintenance!!!! One could go on and on ...More 13 Klaus Thein Local Guide-65 reviews-20 photos 3 days ago New Chartering with this company is not only annoying, but dangerous (see below, sheets/lines)! When you take over the boat, you don't notice the defects, as they are all hidden defects. Foredeck hatches defective (cleverly covered by dinghy when taking over); sheets or lines too thin, rush out at 18 knots of wind, which can lead to serious injuries; outboard motor overheats after 10 minutes and starts smoking; anchor light defective; deck stains clothing; electric toilet pumps insufficiently; loose contact in water pump; on-board battery defective (not noticeable when taking over, as connected to shore power); refrigerator drain blocked; All points can be proven by witness statements from a total of 12 people, are recorded in the logbook and are largely saved by picture/video recordings. The deposit was retained after the cruise and not refunded, as it is claimed that the defects occurred during the cruise. As a final note: Beware of the employee (I think it was the boss) who came on board when all the points were complained about. He gets so outrageously loud that you run the risk of violence. I have never experienced such behavior in 26 years as a skipper and 40 years as a businessman.

“Bunch of cowboys, avoid at all costs!!”
They rented us a boat with serious issues including but not limited to a very bad diesel leak which meant we had to sleep on deck or breathe in diesel fumes within the cabin. It was actually nearly better to sleep on deck, as the majority of the windows leaked very badly, meaning a number of the beds were soaked the entire time as it was stormy weather. Batteries didn't charge correctly leaving us with limited access to electricity which as you can imagine is not ideal for toilet and shower facilities, as well as the bow thrusters not working. Despite all these problems, the biggest issue is the response we received from the company. They took no responsibility even though it is clear they are very much aware of these issues when I read all these other reviews. Would never hire a boat from them again and would recommend you to avoid them at all costs.
“AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST”
At check-in they make you sign a waiver saying “you have received the boat in great condition” even though their entire fleet is horribly maintained. If you don’t sign: you don’t get the boat and they’ll keep your money. We rented a boat called “Arwen”, nice boat but close to falling apart due to poor maintainance. During our trip the mainsail tore. When we called the company for their “24 hour technical support” they weren’t of much help so we went looking for a sailmaker ourselfs. The sailmaker told us that it had torn before and that it had not been repaired properly, causing it to rip again. Later in our trip, when we reeled in the headsail, the line drum broke off. Again their “24 hour technical support” wasn’t of much help, because when I called base manager Eriko, he preferred shouting at me instead of engaging in civil conversation. So of course, we went looking for a marine store to get replacement parts ourselfs. When installing the new part I noticed that the broken part hadn’t been installed properly. I emailed the manufacturer and they comfirmed this. We spent several days in harbor and €320,- on maintaining their boat. Money which we had liked to have back. Yet the company wouldn’t have any of it, referring back to the waiver we signed. When we wanted to talk to them to come to a settlement, they made us wait for hours and again preferred shouting at us. So we agreed to continue the conversation by email. A week later the company sent us an email in which they charged us another €1400 for not delivering the boat in time, which is completely made up as we docked and disembarked exactly when they told us to. I think they charged us this additional €1400 to justify taking our entire security deposit. However it is based on a lie and I’m pretty certain it’s fraud. At the end of the day, we did not enjoy our holiday to the fullest because we were forced to stay in harbor to do maintaince on the boat. When we asked to be compensated for this the company reacted by taking our entire security deposit. From the bottom of my heart, fuck this fraudulent, piece of shit, garbage company. Avoid at all cost.
