For bareboat charter in Turkey, a valid sailing license is required: IPC (International Proficiency Certificate) issued by ASA, US Sailing, NauticEd, RYA, IYT, or another certified school. Skippered

A professional skipper can be provided for $198 per day. A food allowance and a dedicated cabin are required and are not included in the price.

Security Deposit

A damage deposit of $2,330 must be paid on site at Marmaris before embarkation. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the charter, provided there is no damage to the boat.

“Marmaris experience with Sailway”

I recently rented a boat named 'Sandra' from the Sailway Charter Company, located in Marmaris, Turkey. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of my expectations and the standards of the industry. Starting with the location, the Sailway marina was a solid 25-minute taxi ride from Marmaris city center, making it rather inconvenient to access. Moreover, the marina was aesthetically lackluster, not at all what one might envision for a sailing adventure in the Aegean Sea. As for the boat, it was in a significantly worse state than I'd anticipated. Sandra had multiple underwater damages, including a severely damaged keel and rudder. In addition, there were problems with the door and a lack of air ventilators in the rooms, which made the summer heat quite unbearable. Another issue was Sailway's handling of minor damages. The company was overly meticulous in charging for the smallest wear and tear. In my case, they demanded payment for a 2mm chipped paint on the floor. Having sailed for over 15 years and rented from various charter companies, I have never before encountered such a policy. It's crucial to meticulously document the condition of your rented vessel if you choose to deal with Sailway. Luckily, I had thoroughly checked the boat underwater before setting sail, so I was aware of the existing damages. However, first-time renters or those unfamiliar with such practices could easily be caught unprepared. Sailway Charter may provide a basic sailing service, but in my opinion, they need to significantly improve their operations and customer service to compete effectively in the charter industry.
