“Propeller lost on the open sea - full deposit gone!!!”

On day 4 of our sailing trip (Wednesday afternoon) we suddenly lost the propeller without any contact at a depth of about 20 meters, about 200 meters from the coast. With the help of others, we narrowly avoided running aground and managed to save ourselves in a bay with buoys. Attempts by VAL to repair the boat on site the next day were unsuccessful. We had to "sail" to our home port in light winds. We were towed away just before the harbor. Despite repeated interventions, a repair was only possible on Friday afternoon. Conclusion: "The skipper is responsible for everything" - full deposit (€ 1,500) gone! So: Make sure you take out deposit insurance!
