Ruckus/Fountaine Pajot Elba 45
“Spectacular Charter but "No Fins"???”
Chartered "Ruckus", a 45' Fountaine Pajout, out of Frenchtown Marina in St Thomas as a bareboat. The boat was fantastic with everything we hoped for. The staff in St Thomas were outstanding in every way. The boat was as described and as pictured with little wrong with it. Everything from the chart briefing to the checkout was great. Nothing but good things to say about the staff in St Thomas. However, the precruise communication and assistance was very lacking. In fact, their lack of knowledge of the equipment and facilities in St Thomas cost me over $450. I asked on numerous occasions if swim fins would be provided with the boat and was told that they definitely were not included. I know I had read that they were included at one point because they said they provided fins but not snorkeling masks. I remember understanding that it was going to be different this time due to COVID-19. When I again inquired about the fins with Hélène Charlap. from the 12 Knots LLC office, she insisted that they were not. I specifically asked why shoe sizes of the crew were required for the crew listing and she said, "In fact, we always request shoe sizes, regardless of whether the fleet operator provides this equipment or not. Typically, there might be one or two pairs of fins on board for emergencies, but not enough for the entire crew." When we arrived in St Thomas and after arranging for snorkeling gear for eight people (it turns out that you can't just rent fins. You have to rent the whole snorkeling setup), we discovered that, in fact, there were four lockers of fins in every conceivable size and the 12 Knots staff in St Thomas said that, of course fins were provided. They could not understand why we were told that fins were not provided. This got us off on the wrong foot. Luckily, the beautiful weather and gorgeous surroundings in the islands made up for the problem. Don't get me wrong, I still feel they owe me the $450 for the fins but I wasn't going to let that ruin this spectacular vacation. The islands were as described. We had no issues going into and out of the BVI and checking back into the USVI. Overall, a great charter on a great boat.

“The boats were in perfect shape”
We chartered 2 sailing catamarans for a 10 day USVI/BVI vacation and everything was arranged as planned. Good communication, good service, no surprises. The boats were in perfect shape and we had a great time.
