“Please save yourself”
Horrifying experience – please be careful when booking with Monica or the Blue Rhapsody. At first, Monica came across as professional. But what followed was a deeply upsetting and traumatic experience for me and my family. We paid for two nights aboard the Blue Rhapsody, but didn’t even stay one night due to serious safety and hygiene concerns. When we arrived, we were shocked by the condition of the boat. It was much older and more run-down than described. The air conditioning—clearly advertised as available at an extra charge—was “broken.” The boat smelled musty, there were flies everywhere, and it simply felt unclean and unfit for a family stay. Things got worse when I called Monica to discuss the situation. Rather than offering help, she became hostile. She told me she would leave us stranded at the remote landing strip, where there’s no shelter, no reception, and no way to get out. She even said she would “call a mayday and throw us off the boat” if I complained further. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing—this was not just unprofessional, it felt threatening. Luckily, another boat captain I'd been in contact with earlier offered to pick us up. We quickly packed and left. I have traveled in many parts of the world, including remote areas, and I’ve never experienced something this unsafe or disturbing. This happened in December 2024, and I’m still shaken up by it months later. Please enjoy San Blas, but be very, very careful about who you book with. I would never want anyone else to go through what we did.
