“Our Experience with Ocean Sailing House”
Our charter of the yacht Mamamia with Ocean Sailing House was a major let-down. We expected a premium experience but were instead faced with a string of maintenance failures and poor service. From the moment we boarded, problems started to appear: the fridge wouldn’t stay closed, both toilets were unreliable (the master cabin toilet smelled and repeatedly filled with sewage), and one of the navigation screens was unusable due to a huge black spot. When we reported that, the response was simply “use the other screen.” The sails were very difficult to furl/unfurl, the tender had a puncture and deflated, the outboard engine leaked fuel and its cover wouldn’t stay on, and the Dock & Go system was out of order. At checkout, we were kept waiting an hour and a half for a diver who never arrived before we had to leave, with the blame shifted onto a third party. When we raised concerns, nearly everything was brushed off. Management chose to be combative and dismissive instead of apologising or offering solutions. We asked about compensation, but it was clear they valued short-term profit over customer care, so we dropped it. This was an avoidable situation that turned what should have been an enjoyable charter into a disappointing one. I hope sharing this helps others approach Ocean Sailing House with their eyes open.
