Omiros II / Lagoon 450 Flybridge
“DO NOT CHARTER Omiros II”
⚠️ DO NOT CHARTER Omiros II – Dangerous, Poorly Maintained, and Zero Support (July 2025) We chartered Omiros II (Lagoon 450 Flybridge, 2017) in July 2025 and had the worst charter experience in over 30 yacht charters across Greece. This boat is in extremely poor condition and poses multiple safety hazards. Here is a factual summary: 🚨 Safety & Maintenance Failures • Toilets: The starboard aft toilet was not secured to the floor, dangerously tilting during use. At checkout the owner acknowledged this and said, “Yes, I know.” • Starboard navigation light was yellow instead of green – a major safety violation. • Emergency tiller missing. When asked, the owner simply said “No” and seemed unaware of what it was – a major safety violation. • Manual bilge pumps unknown to the owner – a major safety violation. • Life raft was improperly secured, with no visible painter line and no inspection sticker – a legal requirement. • Plotter panel not properly mounted and loose as displayed by the owner at checkin. • Radio was partially functional – a critical safety device. • Engines hadn’t been serviced since August 2023, confirmed by service stickers and by the fact that after pointing out the issue the owner called for a rushed service for both engines the morning after the checkout while we were still bord. • Only one dinghy oar was present at checkin – again, a safety issue. • Main sail came loose from the lazy bag in gusts of 25–30 knots due to poor preparation. 💩 Sanitation & Cleanliness • Grey water tanks were full at check-in, emitting a strong sewer odor in the back-left cabin. • The smell remained all week, even after clearing tanks and cleaning. • Found two full, dry fish in a plastic bag behind a kitchen cabinet. • The dishwasher and icemaker were nonfunctional and appeared unused for years. • At check-in, we were told to use a knife to open cabinet doors which their handles are broken (most of them). • Shower head mounts broken, with no intention to replace as indicated verbally by the owner. • Door in bow port cabin didn’t close, acknowledged but ignored. ⚙️ Equipment Failures • Dinghy lost air shortly after departure. It was in terrible condition and very outdated. We were told by the owner to wait for the morning as it will inflate by itself during the day - interesting concept. • Gear cable tore, leaving us stranded at an island for over 24 hours. • We had to hire transport boats four times due to inability to reach shore - owner refused reimbursement. • The owner told us to call a previous charterer to learn how to fix the cable ourselves! - interesting customer support concept. • Eventually, we hired someone to fix the dinghy ourselves (€200), and the owner refused reimbursement. Not in full, not partial, nothing. • BTW, the owner initially accused us of causing the torn gear cable issue. However, anyone with basic knowledge would know that a dinghy’s gear cable cannot be damaged by normal use — it fails only due to lack of preventative maintenance or because it was already in poor condition. In fact, a previous charterer reportedly had to replace the gasoline cable on the same dinghy just a week or two before our charter, clearly indicating recurring mechanical neglect. • Inverter failed on day 2. The owner accused us of “overuse” for charging phones – absurd and technically false. • Frappe machine, fridge #2, didn’t work or didn't work properly. • Navigation electronics were improperly mounted. ❌ Unprofessional Owner Behavior • The alleged owner, Sergio (21 years old), showed no basic knowledge of seamanship or hospitality. • At check-out, while one of our female crew members was still in the aft starbord cabin, he entered uninvited, asked her to leave, threw her mattress, linen and personal items on the floor, and spent an hour rummaging for the inverter switch. • He claimed we violated the contract by sailing to the Cyclades instead of the Saronic – this was never discussed nor contractually restricted - an absured accusation as sailing is never limited in the Greek charter industry as long as remaining in the Greek international waters. • He tracked our location remotely and became aggressive when told our itinerary. • At check-out, he displayed no intention to correct any problems, and again refused to reimburse costs we incurred to keep the charter functional. 🧯 This Boat Is Not Fit for Charter I’ve chartered over 30 yachts across the Saronic, Cyclades, Ionian, Sporades, and Dodecanese over 9 years. This was the most dangerous, least maintained, and most disrespectfully managed charter I've ever experienced. Omiros II is not seaworthy, not safe, and not supported. Until this boat undergoes a complete safety inspection, full mechanical refit, and is managed by someone with basic hospitality and seamanship skills, it should not be available for charter. 🧾 If You’re Considering This Boat: I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Nothing about this experience reflects the standards of the Greek charter industry. This was a deeply disturbing and disappointing week, and I'm only writing this review so others don't suffer the same or actually risk their life!

Omiros II
“Boat Charter Crew Members”
We were a party of two couples including two experienced sailors and we were excited to spend the first week in June 2024 sailing on Omiros II. While our skipper and host were very accommodating and skillful, our experience with the condition of the boat and the response from the boat owner was very disappointing. At check-in we were told that one refrigerator was not working. On the evening of June 1 we discovered that the waste water tanks were full and at least one head was filled with a fowl odor that persisted and worsened throughout the entire trip. The crew tried to remedy this on several occasions without success. The lack of professional maintenance of the septic system created a potentially serious heath issue. When we inquired about the internet router password, we were told that internet was not provided by the owner despite the fact that the cost of internet service was included in the invoice that was paid in advance. Fortunately the skipper was willing to purchase a router so that we could have the promised Wi-Fi on board. Later in the evening we also discovered that the bed sheets provided in the cabins were not full size double bed sheets. On June 3, we learned that the generator was not working and that the problem was related to low oil level. We understood that low oil level is the result of poor maintenance. The generator was important to our charter since we wanted to have air conditioning while anchored at a number of small islands that did not have shore power. As a result, we had to alter our itinerary for the week. Other issues included missing towel hooks, cabinet doors with loose hinges, and not sufficiently clean heads. We requested compensation for our inconvenience and discomfort during the charter from the boat owner, but he only offered a modest discount on a return charter in 2025. We have no interest in rebooking Omiros II at any time in the future. We strongly recommend that you NOT charter Omiros II.
