Bareboat

For bareboat charters in the BVI / British Virgin Islands, a sailing license is not required. Please complete a sailing resume in your personal account when making the reservation to confirm that you are qualified to rent the Voyage 580 Catamaran. Only the most recent sailing experience from the last 2–3 years is required.

Skippered

A professional skipper can be provided for $225 per day. A food allowance and a dedicated cabin are required and are not included in the price.

Security Deposit

A damage deposit of $1,398 must be paid on site at Road Town before embarkation. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the charter, provided there is no damage to the boat.

“Significant Equipment Failures and Poor Support — Boats are not maintained”

We chartered a catamaran with Voyage Charters in the BVIs and experienced multiple serious issues that materially impacted our trip. Black tank failure at boarding delayed our departure by a ½ day and left the boat smelling of sewage for a couple of days. Mold in the showers and corroded bathroom fixtures. Mainsail tore while being raised under normal conditions, ending our ability to sail for most of the trip. Sails were tattered, sun-damaged, and long overdue for replacement. Ongoing battery and electrical issues required constant engine charging (3–4 times per day), far beyond what we were initially told (1–2 times per day). At one point, we had no lights and could not start the generator, and one engine initially failed to start. Staff replaced the battery with one from their service boat, but the issue was not resolved. The service team that came out was not even aware of all reported issues, indicating poor internal communication. While the base team was responsive at times, the overall experience reflects poor maintenance, inconsistent communication, and inadequate resolution for significant equipment failures. We raised these concerns directly and gave the company an opportunity to make it right before posting this review. Given the cost of a charter like this, we expected a safe, functional vessel and a reliable experience. That was not delivered.

“Hard to believe”

Hard to believe Voyage is still trying to charter this boat! We just returned from Chartering Endless Summer. Black tank failure at boarding delayed our departure by ½ day. They refused to replace the boat 1st day despite our request. Mold in showers and corroded bathroom fixtures and toilets in the main cabin were not cleaned. We have video and text documentation supporting these issues, including confirmation that increased battery charging was considered “normal” only after problems arose. While the base team was responsive at times, the overall experience reflects poor maintenance, inconsistent communication, and inadequate resolution for significant equipment failures. We raised these concerns directly and gave the company an opportunity to make it right before posting this review. No apology and no compensation. Given the cost of a charter like this, we expected a safe, functional vessel and a reliable experience. That was not delivered.
