France“Midi Nautisme Catastrophic Experience”
Hello, I had a catastrophic experience for a rental of a 41 -foot boat in Ajaccio in early July 2022. The boat dating from 2021 was rented rather expensive, but, in a year of navigation, it had suffered extremely, with damage Both inside (square table, broken, pulled door seals, lighting or broken cabins lighting spots, broken sea water pump, etc.), outside (broken dolphiniere repaired with ribbon ribbon Adhesive, VHF antenna, almost detached from the mast, three poor hamecakes available, no secondary anchorage, broken water pipe fittings, changed twice by also broken equipment etc etc ...), an unaccompanied rigging (Ax of Vit mule which it is dislodged during navigation, while the conditions were entirely average), half of the slats of the floor of the broken annex, pierced annex, etc etc ... we would think a joke so huge! Our family vacation being scheduled and paid, since we discovered all of this on site, we maintained our stay. The manager of Marseille, whom I had several times on the phone from the start of the rental told me that they were going to make a commercial gesture, which was never done! In addition, I met during the stay in Corsica, another boaters also based in Marseille, who told me the very bad reputation of the Midi Nautism manager whom he described as a bandit. So it is certain that I will never go back by this company! In my opinion: to flee

Do I need sailing or boating license for the bareboat charter?
In most of the regions, like the Caribbean, South-East Asia, Oceania, no special sailing documents are needed for the bareboat charter. The only thing you need to provide is your sailing resume, so that the base manager can see if you are qualified enough to rent Hanse 315 Sailing yacht in France South. Once you get the approval, you are good to go.
On the other hand for bareboat charter in Europe and some other countries you have to provide internationally recognized sailing certificates like: IYT Bareboat Skipper, RYA Day Skipper, ASA 104 plus IPC. Ask booking manager for the requirements. Detailed information here: BBC things to know
