Learn to sail catamaran or monohull.

This sailing course is developed for those candidates who wish to become a recreational sailing yacht skipper and qualify for chartering and handling big cruising boats and bareboat cruising on their own.

This course provides level of competence that someone needs to act as skipper on an auxiliary powered sailing yacht, or catamaran of approximately 30 to 78 feet during a multi-day cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.

Upon completion of the course candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge of provisioning, galley operations, boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, routine maintenance procedures, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation including basic chart plotting and GPS operation, multiple-anchor mooring, docking, health & safety, emergency operations, weather interpretation including profound knowledge of navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.

Group courses

Instructor to student ratio is 1 to 4. You may enjoy private or shared cabin on board of monohull or catamaran in one of our bases in Montenegro or Thailand.

Private sailing lessons

If you have a group of friends or plan to learn with family members we may offer you a private sailing courses experience. Just choose a boat from our fleet for a price of bareboat charter and we will provide you a sailing instructor.

Private Bareboat Cruising Courses are available minimum for 2 and maximum for 5 people. (Instructor travel expenses and salary should be paid separately on top of the boat charter)


Sailing program

This profound program to International Bareboat Skipper is a practical and professionally run course. It comprises of 10 sailing days and 10 nights on board. You will be sailing in coastal waters during the day making small hops and learning advanced sail trim, coastal navigation and practicing multiple-anchor moorings and dockings. Nights will be spent in comfortable marinas or at anchorages in some picturesque lagoons.

Dinners will be ashore to enjoy the atmosphere of the local restaurants in marinas or on beaches, depending on the location. These meals are not included in the price.

At the end of this bareboat charter certification course you will have mid-sized sailboat experience, with sufficient knowledge and skills to operate a sailboat as a skipper.

Live aboard

Your sailing courses will be on board of a 31’-46’ monohull or catamaran up to 47 feet long. You may choose to learn in one of our bases located in Thailand (Koh Chang) or Montenegro (Bar).

You may enjoy a private or shared cabin. Singles and couples will be paired with others in the same course. Single occupancy is also available. We may also offer private sailing courses for two or bigger groups (up to 5 people) upon the request.

A cruising monohull or catamaran will become your home and classroom for the next ten days. Three or four cabins, main salon and galley area, hot water showers, swim deck and shower, spacious cockpit, and all necessary equipment for safe successful boat handling. (facilities on board are shared).

Sailing certificates

  • Bareboat Skipper Certificate

    This document proofs your competence to act as skipper on an auxiliary powered sailing yacht, or catamaran up to 78 feet long, in coastal waters up to 20 miles offshore during the day time and in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.

  • VHF License

    This document certifies that it’s holder is qualified to hand held short range VHF, knows basic radio procedures: phonetic alphabet, radio terms and emergency radio communications, is able to transmit and receive, knows how to use EPIRB and SART.

  • Logbook

    This is your sailing passport that reflects all sailing courses you graduated and miles you logged after you received skippers license.

Has great experience in long-range crossings and ocean passages in variable weather conditions. Sailing and meteorology instructor in Spanish sailing federation (“Federacion de Vela de la Comunidad Valenciana” (FVCV)). Author of the book “La Vela: Teoria y Tecnica” (Sail: Theory and Practice). Now used as manual in FVCV.

Over 50 weeks of Day Sailing and Coastal courses in the last 3 years. Two Trans-Atlantic passages as a skipper in 2010 and 2012 from Tenerife to Dominican Republic and back.

Sailing means living in close quarters so please try to travel light, please do not bring any hard, big suitcases with wheels that are difficult to store. A backpack or sports/duffel bag would be the best. Some recommendations on what to bring aboard:

Our sailing shool base is located in Koh Chang (Thailand), 4 hours away from Bangkok airport. 

  • Bangkok Airport is located 4 hours away from our base in Koh Chang Island. The easiest way to get there is by car or taxi. Average price per taxi (4 people) is about 100 Euro for one way.
  • There is also local airport (Trat) some 15 minutes away from ferry to Island. Bangkok Airways offer 3 daily flights from Bangkok to Trat.
  • Transfer from the airport to the base is not included. However, we can help to arrange transfer by special request. Please inform us at least 2 weeks prior to the first date of your sailing lessons by filling an appropriate form (number of guests, flight number, time and date of arrival).
